How to Choose the Right PCB Pin

A PCB pin mounts into a board for a fixed interconnect point. The right pin depends on your mount method, current, and plating. Use the steps below to spec it before requesting samples.

1. Confirm the mount method for your board. PCB pins press-fit or solder into the board for a fixed contact. Send your hole size and board thickness and we’ll match the tail. A correct fit holds the pin square and stable.
2. Match the current rating to your line. PCB pins carry 1A to 15A. The high end suits power rails, while lower ratings suit signal lines. Match the rating to your peak load with margin.
3. Pick the pin length for your stack. These pins run 2 mm to 11.8 mm long. Pick a length that seats in the board and reaches the mating point. Share your stack for a fit check.
4. Choose plating for your process and signal. Gold gives low, stable resistance. Tin suits solder processes, and Palladium adds wear resistance. Tell us your assembly and signal need for the right finish.
