How to Choose the Right Double Ended Pogo Pin

A double-ended pogo pin springs on both tips, linking two surfaces through one part. The right pin depends on both gaps, your current, and the spring force each side needs. Use the steps below to spec it.

1. Measure both mating gaps before you spec length. Double-ended pins run 3.2 mm to 31.7 mm long. Each end compresses, so plan travel on both sides. Send both gaps and we’ll size the pin and stroke.
2. Match the current rating to your power path. These pins carry 1A to 10A depending on diameter and plating. Pick the rating that covers your peak load with margin. We widen the barrel for higher current.
3. Set spring force for stable dual contact. Spring force runs 35 gf to 450 gf. Higher force holds both ends firm under shock and vibration. We balance force so neither side over-compresses.
4. Confirm the working height on each end. Working height spans 2.4 mm to 29.7 mm across the range. Spec each end for firm contact within its gap. We’ll model travel for board-to-board stacks.
5. Choose Gold plating for stable resistance. Our double-ended pins use Gold plating for low, stable contact resistance. Thicker Gold adds wear life for high-cycle docking. Tell us your cycle target for the right thickness.
6. Plan the assembly into your housing. Double-ended pins often drop into a plastic carrier or housing. That makes them ideal for board-to-board and battery contacts. Send your housing model and we’ll match the pin envelope.
